Abstract

1536671 Heat-sealed container closures METAL BOX Ltd 16 Jan 1976 [22 Feb 1975] 7520/75 Heading B8T A method of attaching a closure 1, which may be a cap or a lever lid of the plug type, to a substantially rigid container 2 comprises the steps of forming a portion of the container to a shape to receive the lid, at least said shaped portion being provided with a heat-sealable coating; providing a lid and applying to the body engaging portion of the lid a gasket of heat-sealable material 8; positioning the lid on the container and applying heat and pressure to join the lid and body to form an hermetic seal. The body is preferably provided with a vinyl coating 9 and the lid with a polyvinylchloridebased plastisol lining.
