Abstract

1536231 Papermakers felt ALBANY INTERNATIONAL CORP 20 April 1977 [5 May 1976] 16465/77 Heading D1R [Also in Division B5] An endless papermakers felt comprising a plurality of cross-wise yarns forming a base and a non-woven porous sheet of textile fibres needled to said cross-wise yarns, the felt being free of length-wise yarns is produced by needling the sheet to a woven fabric the lengthwise yarns of which are subsequently dissolved. Polyvinyl alcohol, polycarbonate, calcium or sodium alginate, polystyrene and ethyl cellulose are specified as soluble yarns. Polyamide, polyimide, polyester, polyethylene polypropylene and metal monofilaments and glass fibres may be used as the cross-wise yarns. The textile fibres may be batts of wool, polypropylene polyamide, polyester or mixtures thereof. A batt may be needled to either side of the yarn array. One batt may be of wool fibres or a further batt needled on.
