Abstract

1535891 Coated electrophotographic carriers PITNEY BOWES INC 21 Jan 1977 [23 Jan 1976] 2558/77 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions Cl and G2] An electrophotographic carrier comprises a core material selected from sand, glass and metal or metal compounds and a coating of a tetrafluoroethylene telomer of molecular weight 3,000-30,000. Suitable cores may be ferromagnetic, e.g. magnetic oxides, Fe, Co, Ni, steel, alloys of Cu-Ni-Fe. Such a coated material may be prepared by immersing the core material in a 0.1 to 10% dispersion or solution of the fluoropolymer in an organic solvent, separating the coated particles and heating above the melting point of the polymer.
