Abstract

1535039 Curing ethylene polymers UNION CARBIDE CORP 26 Nov 1975 [27 Nov 1974] 48550/75 Headings C3E and C3P A scorch resistant vulcanizable composition comprises 100 parts by weight of an ethylene polymer, from 0À1 to 5À0 parts by weight of dicumyl peroxide and from 0À05 to 2À0 parts by weight of cumene hydroperoxide and/or tertiary butyl hydroperoxide, the dicumyl peroxide and the hydroperoxide being present in a weight ratio, to each other, of from 4 :1 to 40 : 1. The polymers vulcanized in the Examples are polyethylene, ethylene-vinyl acetate or -ethyl acrylate copolymer, and an ethylene-propylenediene terpolymer.
