Abstract

1535001 Recovery of material from waste paper J M VOITH GmbH 14 Feb 1977 [13 March 1976] 06100/77 Heading B2H In a process for recovering fibrous materials from waste paper in which ink particles are removed by froth flotation, the fibrous material suspension from the flotation apparatus 10 is washed to remove other particles therefrom and the said other particles are subsequently sedimented to leave clean water. Waste paper is introduced into a pulper 1 and the pulp produced is fed to the flotation apparatus 10 via hydrocyclones 6 and 9 and de-inking devices 7 and 8. The froth from the apparatus 10 is quenched, passed to a centrifuge 26 and the water extracted therefrom returned to the apparatus 10 or passed to a container 24. The suspension of fibrous material from the apparatus 10 passes to a two stage inclined filter 16, where particulate impurities are washed out by water supplied through pipes 17 and 19. The waste water from the filter passes to the container 24 and then to a settling tank 28. The clean water from the tank 28 is re-used and the sludge dewatered in a centrifuge 31, the water from the centrifuge 31 being returned to the container 24. In a modification, the filter 16 is replaced by a rotatable screw in a filter casing.
