1534945 Racks for printed circuit boards VERO ELECTRONICS Ltd 3 Nov 1977 [18 Nov 1976] 48169/76 Heading H1R A rack for circuit boards comprises (Fig. 1) an, e.g. metal backplate 10 carrying upper and lower longitudinal end plates (not shown) and pairs of opposed channel guides, e.g. 13 slotted at 14 to receive the edges of boards e.g. 15. For each pair of guides a two part separable connector 16, 17 is mounted on board 15 and plate 10. Each connector 17 (Fig. 3) has a plastics carrier 18, recessedly receiving an inner moulding 19 and carrying rearwardly projecting contact pins 20, mounted on the backplate 10 in vertical slot 21. Each front connector 16 is socketed at 24 (Fig. 5) to contain rearwardly projecting pins 25 contacting pins 20 when the connectors are assembled, and has projecting pins 33 passing through holes 34 of board 15. Plastics bars 27, 28 are respectvely attached to boards 15 and carriers 18 and are recessed to receive pegs 30 fitted in desired coded combinations so that each board may be fitted only in the appropriate connector 17. The connecting pins may be automatically pre-wired by wrap ping, for appropriate interconnection. In a modification the carriers have forward extension guides receiving the circuit boards and form a sub-assembly with their associated connectors (Figs. 2, 4, not shown), and a bus-bar assembly may be provided having rear projecting contact pins.
