Abstract

1534844 Manifolding MOORE BUSINESS FORMS Ltd 29 June 1977 [2 July 1976] 27197/77 Heading B6A A business form consists of a sheet folded inwardly in three, in such a way that the underside of an upper folded leaf 15 overlies the upper side of a lower folded leaf 17 and both overlie an initially-central panel 16, so that a uniform front receptor coating CF on one face of the sheet and a uniform back donor coating CB on the other face come into contact only where leaf 15 overlies leaf 17. Consequently pen or typewriter pressure to make a mark 31 on the front of leaf 15 produces a corresponding mark 29 on the front of leaf 17, as the initially-colourless coatings CF, CB react, but has no effect on panel 16. The upper leaf 15 may be separable along a line of perforations 18, so that it can be divided into a record portion and a residual flap bearing glue 21, so that it can be used to seal the envelope formed by adherence of the leaf 17 and section 16 along glue lines 26. Alternatively the upper leaf may be longer than the lower one and have section folded back to receive the mark 31, so that the upper leaf, less the folded back portion, is available as a closing flap which can completely cover leaf 17. Preferably the forms have a CB coating comprising a liquid in pressure-rupturable microcapsules and a CF coating in solid form. The forms may be portions of a longitudinally-folded web, divided into sections by cross perforations and provided with feed perforations adjacent the folds 13, 14, in strips which are detachable along lines of weakening to separate the leaves 15, 17 and panel 16 for use as independent sheets.
