Abstract

1533585 Magnetic tape data recording DATA RECORDING INSTRUMENT CO Ltd 24 Feb 1976 [6 March 1975] 9316/75 Heading G5R A system for recording markers spaced along magnetic tape 13 by a distance which is independent of tape speed includes a decoder 14 which initiates writing of a marker by network 16 and write head 12 when the previously-written marker is detected at downstream read head 11; the marker spacing is thus substantially equal to the head spacing. If data blocks are being written between the markers in the same operation, the initiation of data writing by circuits 18 is made dependent on the completion of marker writing, or is delayed by a certain amount after detection of a marker by decoder 14. The decoder 14 may also be used to recognize synchronizing signals which are used to condition the data read circuits 19.
