Abstract
1533032 Offshore structures SEA TANK CO SA 22 Jan 1976 [11 Dec 1975] 02557/76 Heading E1H An offshore structure comprises a hollow, concrete base 3 with columns 5 supporting a buoyant platform 4, the structure being built with the platform resting on the base and then being floated to its installation site using the buoyancy of the platform, and, optionally buoyancy of the base. At the site, the base is lowered by gravity, jacking or winding to rest on the sea bed, where it is retained by ballasting. The platform is raised above the water surface by winching or jacking and is locked to the columns, e.g. releasably. The base 3 comprises a plurality of open-topped cells, some of which may be lowered to provide buoyancy.
