Abstract

1533014 Hand-held lifting implements G F STANLEY 1 March 1977 [1 March 1976] 08164/76 Heading A1B A spade or fork comprises a blade 2 at an angle of between 20‹ and 45‹ to the main handle 3, and a flexible secondary handle 5 articulated to the main handle 3, the handgrips 6, 4 being capable of being gripped by the hands of a user at the same horizontal level when the blade 2 is horizontal, the user of the implement remaining upright throughout its use. The length of the main handle 3 is greater than in a conventional spade. The main handle 3 may be rotated around its axis relative to the secondary handle 5. The handles 3, 5 may be telescopically adjustable in length. The grip 4 is rotatable. The secondary handle 5 comprises a synthetic cord fixed to the grip 6 and to an adjuster plate 9, and threaded through a detachable link 8.
