1533073 Valves TOMOE TECHNICAL RESEARCH CO 17 June 1977 [3 Aug 1976] 25422/77 Heading F2V The plate 10 of a butterfly valve includes one or more annular flanges 71, 72 positioned inwardly of the extreme outer periphery of the plate and extending laterally from the plate, said flanges serving to reduce fluid forces impinging on an annular seal 4 when the valve is partially open.
