Abstract

1532062 Block polyesteramides ATO CHIMIE 12 April 1976 [15 April 1975] 14823/76 Heading C3R A block linear aliphatic copolyesteramide is prepared in the molten state by polycondensing (a) a linear aliphatic polyamide of molecular weight from 1,000 to 10,000 and having terminal ester or carboxylic groups and (b) a linear aliphatic polyester of molecular weight from 500 to 6,000 and having terminal hydroxyl groups, wherein the weight ratio of polyamide blocks to polyester blocks is greater than 1À5 : 1 but not greater than 20 : 1 and the Vicat point of the copolyesteramide is from 105 to 200‹ C. The examples describe preparing polyesteramides from (a) polyamide 6, 6-6 or 11 and (b) polyethylene adipate or the polyester derived from adipic acid, ethylene glycol and 1,4-butanediol.
