Abstract

1530339 Mixing apparatus VIKING ENG CO Ltd 4 Nov 1977 [8 Dec 1976] 51276/76 Heading B1C In a mixing head for foam plastics ingredients, of the type having a mixing chamber with a reciprocable discharge plunger, the chamber and plunger are of non- circular (e.g. rectangular) cross-section and the chamber is defined by a plurality of parts. As shown the chamber has top and bottom plates 11a, 11b and side cheeks 11c, 11d mounted between side plates 12; the plunger 14 has top and bottom channels 18, (19), to put the inlet and recirculation ports 16, 17 into communication when the plunger is retracted. The side cheeks may be slidable to provide a close fit to the plunger; they may be made in two parts, Fig. 5, which are separable by fluid pressure, or may be slotted parallel to the inner face which is deformed towards the plunger by the fluid pressure.
