Abstract

1529222 Cooling extruded tubes COLOROLL Ltd 13 April 1976 [14 Jan 1975 28 Jan 1975] 48648/77 and 48649/77 Divided out of 1529221 Heading B5A A machine for producing folded tubular stock for the manufacture of carrier bags (see Divisior B8) comprises an annular extrusion channel 8, Fig. 2, adapted to extrude a tube 15, Fig. 1 of thermoplastics film material, widened regions 11, 12, Fig. 2, of the channel 8 at diametrically opposed locations, means, e.g. a nozzle 14 for inflating the tube to a predetermined diameter first guide means, e.g. arcuate members 19, 2( for receiving and constraining the tube 15 into the predetermined diameter, cooling means 21 for directing cooling gas on to the thicker parts of the tube within the first guide means, and second guide means, 3 e.g. rollers 23, for folding the tube flat on to a plane extending at right angles to a plane joining the mid-points of the thicker parts. Blades 25 may form gussets in the flattened tube which is stored in a bin 30 by means of an oscillating arm 29.
