Abstract
The venturi tube (20) has a convergent part (22), a diffuser part (24) and a throat (26). At an axial distance from each other, rings of nozzles (28, 30, 32) open out radially inwards. The cross-sections of the nozzles near to the throat are conventionally smaller and those of the more remote nozzles larger so that the flow of the scrubbing agent corresponds in each case to the corresponding diffuser cross-section (36, 38). The nozzles (28, 30, 32) are optionally fed with scrubbing liquid, that is the nozzles (30, 28) situated nearer to the throat (26) in the case of a relatively small gas stream and the nozzles (30, 32) more remote from the throat (26) in the case of a relatively large gas stream. In this way the scrubbing performance is matched well to the gas flowing through. <IMAGE>
