1529114 Power supply circuit for induction cooker: frequency changers DIAMOND H CONTROLS Ltd 31 March 1977 [21 June 1976] 25681/76 Headings H2H and H2F A power supply circuit for controlling the power supplied to an inductive load 5 (e.g. in an induction cooker) from an A.C. mains supply, comprises a rectifier circuit 13 for rectifying the A.C. mains supply, an inverter circuit for supplying current pulses to the inductive load from the rectifier circuit at a frequency substantially higher than the mains frequency, and a control circuit for periodically enabling the inverter circuit such that current pulses are applied to the load in groups to determine the power supplied to the load, the group repetition frequency being greater than that of flicker perceptible by the human eye. In Fig. 1, 14 is a filtering capacitor. The inverter circuit includes capacitors 3, 4 which are charged from the rectified mains, and thyristors 6, 10 enabled in turn via transformers 8, 11 to permit oscillatory discharge of the capacitors 3, 4 via the load 5. The oscillation is taken off via a transformer 7 to a circuit (Fig. 2, not shown) in which the zero-crossings, delayed, produce pulses to the transformers 8, 11 alternately, during the "up" portions of a duty-cycle pulse train. "Pan-absent" and "switch-on" inhibits are provided.
