Abstract

1529034 Surface wave delay lines STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 24 Feb 1977 07786/77 Heading H3U A surface acoutic wave device used as a delay line comprises a layer of piezo-electric material 1 with input and output transducers 2, 3 on an upper surface and bonded at its lower surface to a metallized layer 5 covering the top layer of a second piezoelectric material slice 4 which has a further metallized layer 6 on its lower surface. The layers are preferably quartz 1 and lithium niobate 4 and by the application of a voltage across the slice 4 the structure can be made to flex and thus alter the spacing between the conductors of the transducer and thus the operating frequency of the device.
