Abstract

1528455 Oxidation catalyst UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 27 Jan 1976 [27 Jan 1975 18 July 1975] 3527/75 and 30306/75 Heading B1E A method of preparing a catalyst comprises the steps of (1) providing, in a liquid medium, and in association with a temporary support, a material which is either catalytic or is convertible to catalytic material, (2) transferring the material in association with the temporary-support to an aluminiumbearing feritic alloy, (3) removing the temporary-support and (4) converting the convertible material, where present, to catalytic material. In step 1, the temporary-support may comprise a carbonisable water-soluble organic dispersing agent, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol or sucrose, in water removed is step 3 by carbonisation and oxidation to remove carbon or a dispersion of finely-divided carbon removed by oxidation. The convertible material may be a salt of a platinum group metal, e.g. chloroplatinic acid, reduced to platinum group metal during removal of the support. The alloy may contain Cr and Y as well as Fe and Al, in specified proportions. Specifications 1490977 and 1471138 are referred to.
