1527924 Vehicle tow bar AGRICULTURAL REQUISITES & MECHANIZATIONS Ltd 11 Feb 1976 05322/76 Heading A1P An assembly for raising and lowering a tow-bar comprises a tow-bar 1 pivoted on a tractor, or other vehicle, 4 and coupled, via links 9, to a hydraulic ram 6, also pivoted on the tractor 4, and further comprises means 18-22 for locking the tow-bar I in its raised position. The tractor is reversed until the hook 2 lies under the tow hitch, and then the ram 6 is extended hydraulically, thus pushing up links 9, which slide in cut-outs 15 in a plate 14 bolted to the tractor, and raising the towbar 1 until it rests between projections 17, to limit its transverse movement, with the hook 2 contacting the plate 14. To lock the tow-bar 1 in this raised position, struts 18, pivoted at 7 and biased in a direction X, engage with their notched ends 20 a pivot bar 10 connecting the ram 6 and links 9. To release the tow-bar, it is hydraulically raised a small distance, a handle 22 pulled forwardly against the bias X, and the tow-bar then lowered hydraulically.
