Abstract
1527581 Centrifugal governor SOC ANON AUTOMOBILES CITROEN 5 Jan 1977 [6 Jan 1976] 00258/77 Heading G3B [Also in Division F1] A device for regulating the delivery of a fuel injection pump comprises a movable setting member 2', Fig. 4, for determining the injected volume, a speed sensitive regulator R having a sensitivity modified by the position of a control lever 3, Fig. 3, and arranged to control the setting member 2', a damper F for braking displacements of the setting member 2', and an over-ride device M connected for operation by the lever 3 and arranged so that over part of the movement of the lever the setting member adopts positions corresponding to an injected volume of fuel less than that which would be produced by the regulator R. The over-ride device M includes a rod 54 for moving the setting member 2', @ tooth rod being operated via linkwork.25', 32', 53 by a cam 28' cable operated by the control lever 3. A spring 27 attempts to maintain contact between the cam 28' and a roller 33' of the linkwork but is inhibited by the damper F during rapid movements of the lever 3. In the embodiment shown the regulator R is a centrifugal governor, the sensitivity thereof being modified by the change in tension of a spring 47 connected to the lever 3 via a lever system 23', A, 50 and the cable 24. In a second embodiment, Fig. 1 and 2 (not shown) the setting member is a fluid driven shuttle (2) which controls a by-pass passage (10, 11), and the regulator R comprises a throttle member (22) controlling the return flow of fuel from an actuating chamber (16) of the shuttle, which chamber is supplied with fuel by a piston (19) driven in unison with the pumping piston (9a).
