Abstract

1526740 Grain separator MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AG GOTTMADINGEN 30 Oct 1975 [30 Jan 1975] 44865/75 Heading AIF [Also in Division B2] A rotary grain separater, connected behind the thresher (6, 7) Fig. 1 (not shown), of a combine harvester, comprises a perforate screening drum 9 rotatably journalled on rollers 11 and surrounding a row of rotary members 17, each comprising prongs 23 and a hub 22 carried on a holder 16. Each holder passes through one of a row of bores 15 in a beam 13 secured immovably to the combine harvester. The members 17 are rotated by the crop layer lining the drum 9, and to some extent by impellers 21; alternatively the members 17 may be positively driven. The crop is fed to the drum by a straw-collecter 8 and scoop-like impellers 20 and the grain then passes, centrifugally through the drum's perforate wall, whilst the straw is bundled and carried along inside the drum by the prongs 23. The planes of rotation of members 17 are parallel and may be adjustably angled to the cross-sectional plane of the drum by axially shifting a rod 12, so as to rotate all the holders 16 within their bores 15, and this angular adjustment, together with an adjustable speed of drum 9 rotation enable variation in the rate of crop through-put.
