Abstract
1525703 Electrostatographic developers XEROX CORP 22 Aug 1975 [26 Aug 1974(2)] 34945/75 Heading G2C An electrostatographic developer comprising carrier and toner particles at least one of which contains a styrene/alkyl methacrylate copolymer containing pendant hydroxyl or amino groups (preferably produced by aminolysis of pendant ester groups as in Specification 1525702) which are subjected to controlled acylation either kinetically or stoichiometrically to modify triboelectric properties. Preferably the copolymer is of Formula wherein X is NHCOC 6 H 4 R or OCOC 6 H 4 R' where R is NO 2 or OCH 3 and R' is H, Cl, NO 2 or CH 3 . The copolymer may be used as the toner and be admixed with dyes or C black and used with magnetic or non-magnetic carriers. Alternatively the copolymer may be used as the coating on metallic carrier beads and then may be crosslinked and used with a toner such as natural resins, cumarone-indene resins, acrylic resins, polystyrenes, polyesters, epoxy resins and phenolformaldehyde resins.
