Abstract

1522967 Lamps XEROX CORP 23 Sept 1975 38922/75 Heading F4R A copying machine has an illuminator comprising an elongate envelope 10 having a narrow longitudinally extending window 12 through which light can leave the envelope and light sources 13, 14 arranged to direct light into the envelope from both ends, each source including an ellipsoidal reflector 13b, 14b having its periphery juxtaposed to a respective end of the envelope and the document to be copied being so located that lines drawn from points on the peripheries of the reflectors opposite the centre of the window to pass through the images 20, 21 of the light emitting elements intersect at a point 22 adjacent the centre of the copiable portion of the document.
