1521646 Incinerators; steam generation R C TYER and L C BRUCE 15 Feb 1977 06269/77 Headings F4B and F4A An incinerator for burning refuse comprises a horizontally disposed cylindrical combustion chamber 10 having an inlet opening 12, a rotatable auger 26, an ash receptacle 22, and an exhaust duct 20 including a heat exchanger 60. Combustion air enters the incinerator from a blower 72 via a longitudinally-extending manifold 76 adjacent the top of the combustion chamber, with openings (82, 84, Fig. 4) spaced around the walls of the combustion chamber. The helical flight of the auger 26 has a larger pitch at the inlet end than at the outlet end. The central shaft of the auger may be in water flow communication with the heat exchanger 60. Solid particulate material is removed from the exhaust gases via a dust precipitator.
