Abstract

1518821 Load handling CETEC DRESSLER CONSTRUCTIONS ET ETUDES THERMIQUES ET CERAMIQUES 7 July 1975 28555/75 Heading B8H A device for handling parts which may be bulky, heavy and brittle, such as sanitary ceramic pieces 41 before and after firing, comprises a gripping head 14 mounted on a support frame, shown as a bridge 10 of a gantry crane, by an approaching mechanism, shown as a crab 12. The head 14 includes a back part 21 on which are pivotally mounted two arms 15, 16 respectively operated by double-acting rams 24, 25 and provided with inflatable gripping cushions 18, 19 providing a bulging surface convex in orthogonal directions and deformable to fit the parts handled. A third cushion 20 is pivotally mounted at 30 on an arm 17 fixed to the part 21. The head 14 may include presence detecting means and the operation illustrated for transferring a piece 41 to a firing truck 42 (shown with other unfired pieces 43, 44, 45) may be fully controlled by an operator (not shown) at a control desk 46, or may be automatic or semi-automatic.
