Abstract

1517938 Stereophonic circuits MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 12 Dec 1975 [25 Dec 1974] 51050/75 Heading H4R In a stereophonic headphone system which simulates listening to stereophonic loudspeakers, each earphone receives, in addition to its own signal, a portion of the other signal of the stereophonically related signals after delay and filtering of said other signal. Stereophonically related signals from a source 1 are applied through adders 14, 15 and notch filters 16, 17 to earphones 8, 9 of a pair of headphones 7. Delay circuits 10,11 provide a delay (e.g. about 400 ÁS) and low pass filters 12, 13 have a cut-off frequency of 400 Hz or below and an attenuation characteristic of - 1À5 to - dB/oct. The notch filters compensate for a resonance effect due to the air volume in the user's auricle between the earphone and the eardrum.
