Abstract

1517962 Moulding accommodation modules I F PRIMUS 6 June 1975 22909/75 Heading B5A An accommodation module having one open face is moulded between a core and outer form, the module being tilted after moulding to its "in use" position in which the open face is uppermost. As described in a first embodiment, a core and outer form are positioned on the horizontal leaf 21 of the table (positioned as in Fig. 3a), with the vertical leaf 22 forming part of the form. Concrete is cast and compacted to form the modules 50 with its open face down. The table is rotated through 90 degrees (Fig. 3b), the leaf 21 moved to a horizontal position (Fig. 3c) and the module 50 transferred to leaf 21 over leaf belts and rollers, after removing the core and outer form. The leaf 22 is moved to a vertical position (Fig. 3d), and the table is tilted through 90 degrees to place the open side of the module 50 upwards in its working position (Fig. 3e). In a second embodiment, the leaves 21, 22 are relatively fixed, and both leaves of the table are tilted to allow the module to be pushed on to a horizontal support that rotates about a vertical axis to turn the module 50 around before it is pushed back on to the table (Figs. 4b, 4c). Alternatively, two tables are placed side by side, with their adjacent leaves 20 intermeshing or aligning to allow the module to be tilted by either table (see Fig. 5, not reproduced). In another embodiment, the core is placed above a fixed-leaf table leaving a cavity, so that the module will be cast with its open face away from the leaves. The table is tilted so that leaf 21 is at 20 degrees to the horizontal, and a part 31 of the module is cast (Fig. 6b). The table is tilted to place leaf 22 horizontally (Fig. 6c) and the remainder 33 of the module is cast and screeded. The core can be rolled on wheels. All five walls of the module can alternatively be cast at once if the table is tilted about a post to raise the pivot axis of the leaves 21, 22 (Fig. 7, not reproduced). The core is hollow and comprises five walls and an open end. Reinforcing mats, bars making intermediate floors, and removable recess definers are connected together for earthing and supported on the core, which is mounted on a supporting frame movable on rollers between a reinforcing and a casting station.
