Abstract

1517161 Implantable bone clamps M R V RAGHAVA 21 Aug 1975 [29 June 1974] 28985/74 Heading A5R [Also in Division E2] An implantable apparatus for use in repairing bone fractures comprises a rigid bar 18 and spaced clamps 20 which grip the bone on each side of the fracture. The bar is of a metal suitable for implantation and has apertures 30 which accommodate threaded shanks of claws 24. This apparatus is implanted about the fractured bone and second claws 26 are screwed onto the shank so claws 24 and 26 fit within recesses 34 in bar 22 and thus are prevented from pivoting about the shanks. A locking device in the form of a strip fixed between bar 22 and claw 26 and bent over to abut nut 32 may be used. The claws may have different shapes such as a crossed shape for use with various fractures and have a knurled or roughened surface 36.
