Abstract

1516873 Nailing tools SWINGLINE Inc 10 July 1975 [30 July 1974] 29026/75 Heading B4C A hand-held nailing tool drives in nails in two operations, firstly part way as a surface 30 on blade 26 attached to a ram 25 strikes the nail's head and then completely as a projection 29 on blade 26 strikes the head. Ram 25 is driven by a spring 32 cocked by trigger 9 through a pivotable lever 40 and lifting lever 42 which has a projection 42a acting on projection 25d on ram 25. These two projections are disengaged as spring 32 becomes full cocked by contact of lever 42 on hinge pin 11. Blade 26 is pivoted on ram 25 urged in a clockwise direction as shown by a spring. The selection of which surface, 29 or 30 engages the nail is determined by the position of the nail which during partial driving prevents rotation of blade 26 and thus surface 30 is engaged in that instance. The trigger 9 may be locked as may the magazine 1.
