Abstract

1515624 Bottling PONT-A-MOUSSON SA 12 Aug 1976 [29 Aug 1975] 33541/76 Heading B8T Flow of liquid A from a vat 1 into a bottle B is controlled by a valve 26 one surface 26b of which is subject to the pressure of the liquid while the other surface 26a is subject to the pressure of air in the bottle. Raising bottle B against gasket 10 of cone 9 causes outer sleeve 11 to telescope over inner sleeve 2 until cone 9 lifts ring 21 which in turn raises ring 14 and turns air exhaust tube 12 to release valve 26 from sealing pressure by cup member 15. Valve 26 then rises from seat 6 as the liquid pressure tending to open the valve is greater than the air pressure in the bottle which acts on surface 26a via orifices 29. When the liquid level in the bottle reaches tube 12, liquid rises up the tube through orifices 13, reducing liquid pressure and increasing air pressure in the bottle. The pressure change causes valve 26 to fall on to seat 6 to prevent further inflow of liquid. Lowering of the bottle then allows tube 12 and therefore sealing cup 15 to descend to seal valve 26, followed by descent of sleeve 11 under gravity. Liquid from tube 12 drops into the bottle and the device is ready for the next filling operation. The device may be sterilized by forcing sterilizing solution back through the line, the solution injector having a neck of such shape that it contacts ring 14 and raises it together with valve 26.
