Abstract

1515553 Optical illumination device FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 7 July 1975 [11 July 1974] 28600/75 Heading G2J An illumination device for an optical instrument comprises a transparent body 1 carrying a pattern (engraved marks 5), and photodiode(s) 10 arranged to emit into the body light beam(s) having a predetermined solid angle, the arrangement being such that light from the diode can leave the body only via the pattern, see Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown). The light flux of the associated instrument is indicated by L, and opposed faces 2, 3 of the body 1 may be plane or spherical, while its side edge 11, which is metallized, may be cylindrical or part of a quadric, focus F, as shown. The output of the diode(s) may be controlled, through a lightsensitive device (12), by the light L, see Fig. 4 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the diodes (20) and engraving (18) lie on the opposite plane faces of the body which is located out of the direct line of the light L, a semi-reflecting plate (21) being employed.
