Abstract

1514915 Hinge mountings CROMPTON NETTLEFOLD STENMAN Ltd 5 Aug 1975 [1 Aug 1974 20 Jan 1975] 33935/74 and 30360/75 Divided out of 1514916 Heading E2F In a hinge of the type in which two leaves 1, 2 are pivotally interconnected by a hinge pin 2, leaf 1, is designed to be attached to a component to be hinged and leaf 2 slidably engages in socket formed in a casing designed to be secured to the other component to be hinged; the casing being formed from inner 10 and outer 9 plates, the inner of which has a spring tongue which engages an aperture 5 in the leaf 2. A hole 21 in the outer plate allows the insertion of an implement 25 to depress the tongue 17 and release the leaf 2. Metal or plastics can be used. In other embodiments (Figs. 3-6 not shown) the hinge is modified to take heavier loads by the inclusion of a projection from the leaf 2 which engages over the plate 9. In another modification (Figs. 7, 8 not shown) the casing has an open end to provide access for the releasing implement. A spring hinge is disclosed as being mounted in the manner described (Fig. 9, not shown).
