Abstract

1514834 Steam turbines STAL LAVAL TURBIN AB 13 Oct 1975 [15 Oct 1974] 41788/75 Heading FIT The shaft 13 of a steam turbine is supported at each end in bearing blocks each consisting of two parts 4, 5 clamped to the stator housing 1 with freedom for thermal expansion. Each block is fixed axially by wedges 8 secured to brackets 2 on both sides of the shaft axis and slidably engaging recesses in block flanges 12 so as to permit transverse expansion. Bolts 6 pass through oversize holes in flanges 12 and are screwed into brackets 2, spacers 11 being provided. Transverse fixing of each block is effected by a wedge 10 on bracket 3 slidably engaging an axial recess in the bottom parts of the block with freedom for axial expansion.
