Abstract

1514831 Heat exchanger tube supports; steam generators INTERATOM INTERNATIONALE ATOMREAKTORBAU GmbH 8 Oct 1975 [14 Oct 1974] 41325/75 Headings F4S and F4A A liquid metal/water heat exchanger, e.g. a forced circulation steam generator, comprises a vessel 1 having a cover 3 from which one or more tube bundles 4, 5 are suspended and the bundles not being secured to the vessel enables their removal from the vessel with the cover. The or each bundle is accommodated within an elongate casing 2 welded to the cover so as to be removable with its associated bundle, and has apertures to allow the liquid metal, e.g. liquid sodium to be passed through the casing. The or each easing is funnel shaped at its lower end and is retained in position by partitions 10 secured to the vessel wall. The tubes may be helically or rectilinearly formed and each bundle is formed with a central tube 11, 12 filled with a gas surrounding a feed pipe 13, 14 for a second medium, e.g. water passing to the tubes via a distribution chamber. A plurality of the heat exchangers may be arranged adjacent one another and connected to one another by a duct or ducts as in the embodiment described with reference to Figs. 3 and 4.
