Abstract
1514531 Solenoid locks WILMOT-BREEDEN Ltd 26 Jan 1976 [4 Feb 1975] 4639/75 Heading E2A A door lock comprises a pawl-operating lever 15, movement of which operates a door latch, a release lever 16 connected to manually operable means, and a locking member 17 movable under the influence of doubleacting solenoid 12 between an unlocking position, in which it couples lever 15 to lever 16 so that movement of the latter operates the door latch, and a locking position in which no such coupling occurs. Levers 15 and 16 pivot about pin 14 provided on the mounting plate 10, the locking plate 17 is sandwiched between these plates and slides between the locking and unlocking positions by virtue of slot 17a over pin 14. In the unlocking position illustrated in Fig. 1, projection 17c on the locking plate 17 engages together with projection 15d on lever 15 in slot 16a in release lever 16. A similar projection on locking plate 17 engages in a slot (not shown) in lever 15, so that these two are permanently coupled. This couples levers 15 and 16 together so that clockwise rotation of lever 16 via handles attached to link 18 or lever 19 causes clockwise rotation of lever 15 and operation of the door latch via pawl-pin P. Operation of the solenoid 12 pushes rod 22 further out and moves locking member 17 so that projection 17c is no longer in engagement with slot 16a. Key-operated means may be coupled to the solenoid plunger via rod 23 so that the door may be opened in the event of electrical failure. The locking plate 17 may be coupled through eye 17e to a manual operating means.
