Abstract

1514465 Stuffing box joints R W G LANE and D R HUDSON 15 May 1975 [31 May 1974] 20534/75 Divided out of 1514464 Heading F2G A pipe P<SP>1</SP> is selaed into an aperture in a wall W<SP>1</SP> by a joint comprising a cover 15 welded to the pipe and spanning the aperture and a washer-like plate 16 freely movable along the pipe by means of a sleeve 18 and a nut and washer assembly 19 on the pipe, mastic 20 being trapped in the space between the plate 16 and cover 15. The plate 16 has sufficient clearance for the escape of excess mastic. The plate 16 and sleeve 18 may be combined in a single item which may include the nut and washer assembly 19. Spacers may be used with the nut and washer assembly 19 or may combine with said assembly to form a single item.
