Abstract

In the known electrolytic grinding according to Mordekhai, two springs are ground simultaneously at one end each and, after the springs are turned, are likewise ground at the other two ends. The object of the invention is to provide a method and an apparatus with which the spring ends can be electrolytically ground in a simpler and more accurate manner. This object is achieved in that many helical springs (2) are simultaneously machined at both ends (5, 6) by means of two grinding wheels (10, 12), of which one (10) is displaceable and serves to axially align all springs, and are held in place by means of a device (3) for the simultaneous clamping of all springs after the alignment. To this end, the springs are inserted into a work carrier (1) having hollow spaces for accommodating the individual springs. Apart from this insertion of the springs, the method can be carried out automatically with the apparatus. <IMAGE>
