Abstract

1512878 Comminuting apparatus ALPINE AG 2 June 1976 [23 Sept 1975] 22856/76 Heading B2A Comminuting apparatus for comminution of strip material, or waste material compressed to strip form, into completely separated pieces, comprises a comminuting rotor 2 and a parallel-mounted feed roll 3 Fig. 1. The rotor 2 has blades 7 in axially-disposed rows, the blades in each row being offset in the peripheral direction from the blades in adjacent rows. The blades 7 have cutting edges parallel to the rotor axis and cooperate with a similarly-aligned fixed blade 8. Fixed blades 10 having cutting edges perpendicular to the rotor axis interdigitate the rows of blades 7. Each fixed blade comprises two radially extending cutting edges. Material is fed in against a curved wall 11. The feed roll 3 has adjacent offset tipped teeth 13 extending spirally around a core 12 to extend into the axial gaps between the blades 7 into the immediate vicinity of the shaft 14 of rotor 2. In operation, bulky material is seized by the teeth 13 and compressed into strip-like form. The blades 7 form echelon-arranged incisions in the material transversely and simultaneously advance the material towards the fixed blades where it it longitudinally divided. Strippers 15 remove jammed material.
