Abstract

1511958 Ziegler catalyst components SOLVAY & CIE 11 June 1976 [13 June 1975] 24325/76 Heading B1E [Also in Division C3] A solid catalyst component is prepared by (a) reducing TiCl 4 with a compound containing a TiCl 2 AlCl 6 group complexed with an aromatic hydrocarbon molecule, (b) treating the reduced product with a complexing agent and (c) concurrently or subsequently with Ti Cl 4 and separating the product from the reaction medium. In the examples TiCl 4 is reacted with AlCl 3 and Al in benzene to form the product which is used to reduce TiCl 4 in step (a) and the complexing agent is diisoamyl ether.
