Abstract
1511594 Light guide connectors SIEMENS AG 14 Sept 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 37958/76 Heading G2J A connector for a light guide is made by mounting an optical fibre 3 in a plug I so that the end of the fibre is flush with face 2' of the plug and temporarily fixing said plug to movable member 6, inserting plug 1 into a tube 5, removably held in casing 13 so that it is accurately concentric with second fibre 7, laterally moving plug 1 until light emitted from fibre 7 and picked up by fibre 3 is a maximum, and fixing plug 1 in tube 5 by means of adhesive or hardener 8, and removing tube 5 from casing 13. Two such connectors can be joined by inserting into a connecting tube 12 (Fig. 3), which itself may be inserted into a housing 11, Fig. 4 (not shown) whereby cap nuts 10 may be used to retain the connectors. Alternatively the coupling tube itself may be threaded to take the cap nuts.
