Abstract

1511495 Halogenated thiobisphenols COALITE & CHEMICAL PRODUCTS Ltd 18 Dec 1975 [18 Dec 1974] 54723/74 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C3 and C5] Compounds of the formula wherein one of the two T's in each nucleus denotes a halogen and each of the others two T's denotes an alkyl or alkenyl group, may be obtained by (1) reacting one or more halogenated alkyl- or alkenyl-phenols of the formula wherein one T is halogen and the other T is alkyl or alkenyl, with sulphur dichloride in a hydrocarbon solvent; or (2) halogenating a 2,2<SP>1</SP>- thiobisphenol of the formula wherein each T<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl or alkenyl group in the 4- or 6-position.
