1511459 A phosphonophenylazonaphthalene dyestuff BURLINGTON INDUSTRIES INC 12 Aug 1976 [30 July 1976] 33624/76 Heading C4P The invention comprises (a) a method of preparing 1-hydroxy-3,6-disulpho-8-acetamido-2- (3'-phosphonophenylazo)-naphthalene of the Formula (I) by reacting N-acetyl H-acid with diazotized maminobenzene phosphonic acid under acid conditions at below 10‹C; and (b) the salts of (I) with ammonia, alkali metals and amines that are volatile at 400‹F. (I) and its salts are red dyes and are particularly suitable for the reactive dyeing of cellulosic fibres in a process wherein the dye is reactively linked to the fibre by means of a phosphorus ester link produced in the presence of a carbodiimide such as cyanamide. In one example (I) is used in a printing paste also containing a blue dye of the structure The simultaneous dyeing of polyester and cotton with a disperse dye and (I) is also referred to.
