Abstract

1509968 Baling presser HYDRAULIC APPLICATIONS Ltd 15 Oct 1976 [21 July 1975] 30391/75 Heading B5F In a baling press fibrous material is compressed between upper and lower platens 6, 7 in a box 8 open at both ends, the box being lifted from the compressed material while this is maintained under pressure by the platens. Bands, wires or cords are now passed around the material through grooves in the faces of the platens to tie the bales before the top platen 6 is raised and the bale conveyed out of the press on the bottom platen. The bottom platen is returned between uprights 2 of the press where it is located by balls in its lower surface engaging recesses in the base 1 of the press. The box 8 is now lowered on to the platen 7 by hydraulic jacks 9 which operate a centring and clamping ring surrounding the box and connected to it by hydraulic plungers 13. These are now released and the clamping ring raised for the box to be filled with material. Before lowering the top platen 6 by hydraulic jacks 9 the ring 11 is lowered to centre the box. After the top platen has been lowered the clamping plungers 13 are operated.
