Abstract

1509756 Vehicle presence detection SPETSIAL KONSTRUKTOR BJURO PROMYSHLEN AVTOMAT 17 Nov 1975 47209/75 Heading G1G An ultrasonic vehicle detection device comprises a pulsed ultrasonic transducer 10, pulses emitted or received during the operation of a clockpulse generator 1 being blocked from the amplifier 5 by a switch 4 activated by one of the outputs of the pulse generator. The pulsed beam from a transceiver 3 containing a transducer 10 is directed downward on to a roadway and the clockpulses are arranged to be synchronous with the reception of pulses received by reflexion from the road, these latter pulses thus being blocked from the amplifier 5 by the controlled switch 4. Reflexion pulses arriving at the transceiver 3 between two clockpulses will be registered, such pulse being caused by a vehicle in the ultrasonically irradiated zone. The transducer 10 is excited by a capacitor discharge through a thyristor 9 triggered by a clockpulse and the switch 4 comprises transformers 11, 16 and diodes 14, 15 biased by a negative pulse from the generator 1, simultaneous with the pulse supplied to the thyristor 9, applied to the centre taps of windings 13, 17. The duration of the negative pulse is equal to the reverberation time of the transducer 10.
