Abstract

1508786 Mining installations PITCRAFT Ltd 5 May 1975 [21 May 1974] 22541/74 Heading E1F [Also in Division H2] Conveyors 5 supporting a mining machine 9 each comprise an electric power supply track consisting of a conduit 2 having a slot 16 and housing supply conductors. The slot is closed by seals which may be resilient flaps or inflated tubes. A wedge 23 secured to the machine 9 extends within the seal into the conduit and is linked 22 to two shoes 21 connected to be slidable along the conductors as the machine moves along the conveyor. The conduit may be pressurised with air, N 2 or an inert gas. The track may be attached to the goaf side wall of .the conveyor, at ground level alongside or between rails or suspended from mine arches. The track may comprise successive unit lengths in articulated electric connection.
