Abstract

1504777 Removing oil from water MUNICIPALITY OF ROTTERDAM 15 Aug 1975 [23 Aug 1974] 34010/75 Heading BID Apparatus for removing oil from water comprises a floatable open-topped receptacle 1 which has an opening in at least one of its sides, the weak opening being associated with a buoyant flap 10 hinged at its bottom to the bottom 2 of the receptacle. The receptacle is provided with plastics foam float bodies 9. The flap 10 may be a hollow metal body filled with plastics foam. A grille 13 may be provided at the open side. In use the flap 10 takes up a position depending on the pressures inside and outside the receptacle and oil flows over the flap into the receptacle from which it is removed through hose 14 by suction.
