Abstract

1504674 Knitting-machines ELITEX 23 July 1976 [28 July 1975] 30739/76 Heading D1C [Also in Division G3] Knitwork density .in a circular knitting machine is controlled by instructions from a memory 1 varying the axial position of the needle cylinder 7 relative to the knocking- down plane of the sinkers via a servo loop 2-8. 2 is an arithmetic unit, 3 a D/A converter, 4 a motor control circuit, 5 a motor, 6 a chain drive and 8 a transducer indicating needle cylinder position. A second embodiment (Fig. 2 not shown) enables a gradual change between existing and commanded needle cylinder positions to be achieved by calculating intermediate command values on each revolution of the cylinder by adding or subtracting a small increment.
