Abstract
1503690 Ventilation and dust suppression in mining machines COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd 18 June 1976 [27 June 1975] 27262/75 Heading E1F A movable loading member 1 for so mounting adjacent to the rear of a rotary cutter 2 of a mining machine that when it is in use it can be swung from one side of the cutter to the other side thereof when the direction of travel of the machine is reversed. Such a member comprises a component 10 having a loading or working surface 5 which, when the member is mounted on the machine, is adjacent the cutter and a slide member 35 slidably supported by the component to define with it an air flow passage 41 extending on the side of the component remote from said loading or working surface, the passage having two vertically spaced inlets at 28 and 31 of which the lowermost according to the appropriate setting of the component with regard to the rotary cutter as determined by the direction of travel of the machine is closed by the slide member.
