Abstract

1502998 Metallized formazane dyes CIBAGEIGY AG 7 May 1975 [8 May 1974] 19203/75 Heading C4P Metal complex dyes of Formula (I) where each of A and B is an aromatic carbocyclic radical bound in ortho-position, R is an aromatic carbocyclic, aliphatic or heterocyclic radical, and any of A, B and R may be acylated, and Me is Cu or Ni, are prepared by reacting a formazane of Formula (2) where R 1 is C 1-4 alkyl with a metal donor either in an alkaline medium to form the complex directly or via the intermediate of Formula (3) which may be isolated and which is converted to the complex of Formula (1) by the action of alkali and, where the product contains appropriate groups, reacting it with an acylating agent (including halotriazines and halopyrimidines) to introduce fibre-reactive groups. The metallization may be carried out in the presence of a complexing agent. Suitable metal donors are copper sulphate pentahydrate and nickel sulphate heptahydrate. The products give blue shades on textiles containing cotton, wool, silk, synthetic polyamides or polyurethanes.
