Abstract

1502530 Filling nozzle STORK AMSTERDAM BV 28 May 1976 [2 June 1975] 22264/76 Heading B8T In a filling head for a liquid bottling machine operating under sub-atmospheric pressure, a liquid seal is formed by a cylindrical edge 8 of a stationary valve portion 7 extending downwardly into an annular liquid space 14 formed by an upwardly extending cylindrical edge 13 of a slidable valve portion 20 attached to a cupshaped member 2 which receives the rim of a bottle in operation. In the Figure, the righthand side shows the filling position, the lefthand side the position between filling operations. During filling, the bottle is brought to the same pressure as the liquid reservoir by gas pipe 4, liquid then flows through the nozzle as indicated by the arrows until the bottle is filled to the level of opening 5 of the gas pipe. As the bottle is then lowered, edge 18 engages against sealing ring 21, while the liquid space 14 enlarges to prevent escape of liquid therein past collar 19, so that the nozzle does not dip.
